About Napa Staff

Local, vetted, and built for the seasons.

The valley’s best properties spend harvest and wedding season scrambling for people, while good workers spend the off-season scrambling for shifts. Napa Staff exists to fix both problems at once.

The founders

Alexander Torrenegra and Tania Zapata

Napa Staff is founded by Alexander Torrenegra and Tania Zapata, Napa locals who immigrated from Colombia and have built companies together for more than two decades. They are bilingual, and so is Napa Staff: every conversation, interview and first-shift briefing can happen in English or Spanish.

Alex is an investor on Shark Tank Colombia, where he backs founders for a living. Tania has co-founded and run companies with him since the beginning. They live in Napa, among the oaks and vineyards the valley is known for, and started Napa Staff because the people who make this valley work deserved a local agency that treats them like neighbors.

Why Napa Staff exists

Napa Staff was started by two Napa locals who have spent two decades building companies that match people with work. We know what a slammed Saturday does to a tasting room team, what a night pick asks of a cellar crew, and what a good banquet captain is worth at 11pm, because we live here and we hire here.

That experience shapes how we vet. We do not forward résumés. We meet every candidate in person, check two references, verify certifications and, when you want it, put them on a paid trial shift before anyone commits. You talk to the same person from the first call to the first shift.

It also shapes how we treat the people we place. Competitive pay, weekly W-2 paychecks, workers’ compensation and clear expectations. Good people come back when they are treated well, and returning people are what make a season run.

Partners

A Torre.ai partner.

Napa Staff is a Torre.ai partner. Torre.ai is an AI-powered talent network that matches people with work. In Napa Valley, that reach comes with what a network cannot do on its own: an in-person interview, two reference checks and a briefing before every first shift.

How we vet

Six steps before anyone starts.

  1. I.

    Application and a call

Availability, the roles you want, the properties you have worked.

  2. II.

    In-person interview

Every candidate meets us face to face before we place them anywhere.

  3. III.

    Two reference checks

    Previous employers, not friends.

  4. IV.

    Certification check

RBS for alcohol service, food handler cards, forklift certification, verified before day one.

  5. V.

    Paid trial shift

When the client wants one. The best interview is a shift.

  6. VI.

    Onboarding

I-9 verification, W-2 paperwork, a safety and standards briefing for the property.

Compliance, handled

Temporary and seasonal staff are Napa Staff W-2 employees. We carry workers’ compensation, handle payroll taxes and I-9 verification, and follow California wage and hour rules including meal and rest breaks and overtime. You get one invoice and one point of contact. Direct hires join your payroll from day one, with a 90-day replacement guarantee.

Meet us
